The seeds of Sha’arei Shalom were sown in the summer of 2000 when a small group of Jewish followers of Yeshua and allied Christians began meeting together in a Cary living room to build relationships and study the Scriptures. As like-minded people joined us, we desired to form an organized kehillah kedoshah (spiritual community) for Jewish followers of Yeshua as well as Yeshua-followers from diverse backgrounds drawn to our Messianic Jewish life and expression. We held our first public Shabbat services in September of 2001. For the next seven years we gathered on Shabbat and holidays in rented spaces in Raleigh and Cary. During that time, we became affiliated with the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations. Our community life flourished in prayer, study, and fellowship. In 2008 we purchased our current property on Old Apex Road in Cary. In 2018 we purchased an adjacent property, thereby forming a small campus in the heart of Cary. Today, Sha’arei Shalom is a flagship Messianic Jewish congregation engaged in regular and robust expressions of prayer, learning, chavurah (fellowship), and deeds of lovingkindness.
